Thanks for the ideas.. I have had a few friends deployed, most of them are back home but now I have discoverd an old high school friend is there (thanks to Facebook) and I am sending him a package.. wanted some new ideas!!

I am so glad there is a website like this. This is my first time going through a deployment. I have been dating my boyfriend for about 6 months, and I am having a really hard time with all of this, especially since it was pretty unexpected. If anyone could let me know of any kind of support groups either on the web or in Wisconsin, I would really appreciate it. Again, great website, I will be visiting this quite often.

Thank you Abby, I have a feeling that I am gong to visit this site often. My DAUGHTER Melissa, has been deployed to Iraq in Sept. of 2008. She is a MP in a prison guard. I am so proud of her. I miss her so much. I am looking forward for her to return home. She got word about two weeks ago that she will come home in June for two months and the be deployed to afghanistan after that. I read an article in the "WAYNE TODAY" that is how I came across this website. I love it. Melissa is having a hard time over there. Just last night at 12:30am eastern time, I get a text from her saying, "MOMMY I NEED YOU". Can any one tell me how to handle that?

Abby, Thanks so much for all of your thoughtful ideas. My husband and his brother are in the same National Guard unit and are leaving for their 1st deployment to Iraq. I am relieved to have this site to refer to when I run out of ideas. I have 4 children and I really appreciate the advise about the boxes to save their art work, report cards, etc... Thank you so much for the great ideas!! I have sent a lot to my husband but your website had a lot of great, thoughtful ideas. This is exactly the support I need right now to let my husband know we love and think of him every day. It's hard to express that through packages sometimes when we run out of ideas. And especially the gifts we can give him when he gets back, like keeping a log of what we've sent. I appreciate the time you take to do this!!
